Pilates, Yoga, PiYo, Spin Class, Cardio Step Class - These are all fantastic classes I take at three gyms here in Texas. I frequent the 24 Hour Fitness in Allen, Express Fitness in Allen, and Express Fitness in Plano. With these three gyms it gives me multiple options to keep myself in shape taking classes on a daily basis.
I'm constantly asked by friends who are curious as to what I like better, Pilates or Yoga. These two exercise classes augment each other perfectly and so I can't say I just one or the other better specifically. They both have their strengths and I would never recommend someone just take one or the other. Pilates is more cardio with core strength training, while Yoga is more balance and connecting mind and body, giving you a better awareness. Both will kick your butt the first time you take a class, and possibly the second and third time as well. Each class has levels which allow you to progress as time goes on, you do level 1 moves first, then eventually once you master certain level 1 moves you go onto a level 2 move. This allows someone who has been taking the class for a few years to actually get a great exercise in the same class that its someone's first time. PiYo classes mix up the two into a single class and are also great to take. If you haven't taken one of these classes I stress to all friends that you must!!
